Developing a Meditation Practice
I went on a self love journey a few years ago and Meditation slowly started to become a huge part of my life. The more I meditated, the more I started to understand who I was as a human being. My creativity began to spark out of nowhere, and I magically released stress that I never realized was present in my body. Here I give a few basic meditations that you can do to begin a meditation practice of your own. Your meditation practice will be whatever you make it so do what feels right and listen to your intuition over all else, it will guide you to what you need most.
Guided Meditations
Guided Meditations are a very easy starting place for those who haven’t tried mediation before. A lot of people think they can’t sit without noise or thought for long periods of time so this helps alleviate the stress and pressure that forms from the expectation of sitting without the outside world. You can slowly start a practice, then increase the time as you become more accustomed to the practice of meditation.
To begin, find a comfortable place to sit or lie down. Set a timer for just a few minutes, slowly increase over time. During the few minutes you have set aside, focus on mindfulness and being 100% present. If your mind drifts, bring it right back to being mindful. Continue to redirect as many times as needed and over time it will become easier to sit without thought.
White Light Meditation
White Light Meditation is great for clearing out energetic blocks and also works with the Chakra System when you start to work with these energy centers. This is a great way to clear your mind and body after a long day or when taking time to yourself. I always feel rejuvenated afterwards, and free!
To begin, sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Imagine a white light at the bottom of your feet. Start visualizing this light slowly traveling up the body while clearing out any imperfections or dark spots that it comes across. Go slowly and imagine the light traveling in detail. See it go up the knees, to the hips, the belly, the chest, the throat, third eye, then crown of the head. When it gets to the top of the head visualize it coming out of the Crown Chakra. The light can stay in any given area if it feels it needs to, this is how you can tell where your blockages are. Go with your intuition here!
Inhale, Exhale
The breath can be used to guide energy in and out of the body. For this meditation, we are bringing in white light that is pure, while exhaling light that is darker and no longer serving us.
To begin this meditation, again find a comfortable position. Get in tune with your natural breath pattern. See where you are storing your breath in the body. Start imagining that your inhale is a white light and you encapsulating it within your body. When you breathe in, see where it travels. You can direct it wherever it needs to go. When you exhale, see the breath as a darker color while imagining that you are releasing all impurities and lower vibrational energies out of the body. Continue to breathe in and out until you feel light and full of white, positive energy.
